Pinup Style Maternity Shoot
Strong is the new sexy, and this beautiful Crossfit mother of soon to be three is no exception in this fun and creative maternity shoot!
Strong is Beautiful
Maternity shoots are always such a special occasion. My clients place a lot of faith in me and my creativity in the hopes that i can bring out their true beauty in these sessions, at a time when many may feel quite vulnerable.
I’m always looking to push my creative boundaries so when Tressa requested this shoot it sparked an idea that would incorporate all the elements of her character. After combing through Pinterest the most encompassing concept quickly revealed itself.
Rosie the Riveter
Pinup girls have long since been inspirational figures from a time when countries were recruiting women to enroll in the war efforts. As many of these women were working in factories and the like, a powerful figure emerged named Rosie the Riveter. She embodied the resilience these women showed in such an elegant way that has endured decades of progression for our culture.
She was created at a time where she was to be an inspiration to women, so this was the foundation of our concept as a maternity shoot is always an elegant balance of beauty and grace.
One of the most fun shoots of 2016
I was so excited for both of Tressa’s daughters to be a part of the shoot. Seeing them interact and play around was so much fun and the happiness just filled the room. I couldn’t think of a more energetic, fun or loving way to capture both the present and future family altogether! I really wanted to show how strong Tressa already is as a mother, so capturing the interactions between the three of them was heartwarming as she tried to wrangle the girls into each shot.
We captured some amazing and hilarious moments that really show this strong mama isn’t to be messed with!
We had Faye Smith Makeup on hand to recreate a classic Pinup Style look, adding just enough colour to let Tressa’s radiance really shine through. She did an amazing job emphasizing Tressa’s features with such a clean and simple approach.
I’d like to thank the girls for such a fun and exciting day, and I wish Tressa all the best with lucky number three!
